Good to know
The questions we are asked most often.
Is it available on my dates?
We can't tell you from this page, and we'd rather not pretend. With only three rooms, an online calendar would be wrong within a day of publishing it - so we check by hand and answer you ourselves.
And if you have seen us listed elsewhere with no availability: ask us anyway. Plans change, and we can often help when a booking site says we can't.
The house is open from 1 April to 15 October.
What do I get for €130?
€130 per room, per night, for two people - breakfast included. €90 if you are travelling alone.
That is your own room, your own bathroom with a walk-in shower, towels and linen, breakfast made with things from around here, free parking in the courtyard, and the run of the salon - including the piano. No booking fee and no service charge.
How do I pay?
There is nothing to pay through this website. We confirm everything by email, including how to settle, once we have agreed your dates. Card payment is not possible.
Can I cancel?
Plans change - we know. Let us know as soon as you can and we will always try to be reasonable. We set out exactly what applies when we confirm your stay.
Is there wi-fi?
Yes - but honestly, not everywhere. The walls are a metre of sixteenth-century stone and wi-fi does not negotiate with them. You will have a signal in parts of the building; in others you will have a book and a view instead.
If you need to be reliably online, tell us when you write and we will put you in the room where the signal is best.
Are there stairs?
Yes, and quite a few. This is a three-storey house of about 1500 with a spiral stair tower, and there is no lift. If stairs are difficult, please say so when you write and we will tell you honestly whether we can make you comfortable - we would much rather do that than have you arrive and struggle.
What if I only need one night?
One night is genuinely welcome, and many of our guests stay exactly one. We are a natural stop for anyone driving across France. Arrive between 15:00 and 21:00, park in the courtyard, and leave after a proper breakfast.
Where do we eat dinner?
We don't serve dinner. La Châtre is seven kilometres away - we work with the Auberge de l'Escargot there and will happily telephone and book you a table. Say so when you write.
Can I bring my dog?
We're sorry - no pets.
Can we arrive late?
We welcome guests between 15:00 and 21:00, because we are here to meet you rather than leave a key in a box. If you will be later, write and ask - we can usually arrange something, but we do need to know in advance.
Do you have anything for a baby?
Yes, and free of charge. Tell us what you need when you write.
Is there somewhere quiet to relax?
The garden and the terrace, and the salon with the piano.

Ask us about your dates
There is no booking calendar on this site, and that is deliberate: with three rooms we would rather answer you ourselves than let a screen guess. Tell us when you would like to come and you will get a real answer with a real price.
